Speculation: Not a good idea to plant seeds indoors because they grow so fast. And/or, these were planted at the wrong sign of the moon and are growing tall when the emphasis should be their roots–the radish. I plan to clip them off and add the green to my garden salad.

.

Seeds failurePostscript, March 4, 2016: Full disclosure: The organic Redina lettuce seeds and organic Evergreen Long White Bunching onions did not sprout. Although previously unopened, the “sell by” dates were 04/15 and 11/14. Did yours truly do something wrong, or were the seeds the problem?? I’ll try to “sprout” them to add to a salad and that may answer my questions.

I learn from (almost) every article I read. Due to small living quarters, I’m limited, I can’t go to the extremes outlined in the article. I recognize that I’ve made some mistakes recently and will correct them as I continue to start seeds indoors. ~~ See my earlier posts: Plant a seed, Grow a dream, and Seeds or Seedlings?.

Tommy tomato plantNot my first rodeo (lol)!! Over a year ago, I used this same shopping cart for a tomato plant. I loved Tommy”!! He died from “too much rain” or “too much heat” (although I faithfully moved him into the shade).

Tomato seed sproutRutger's tomato seedlingsThe tomato plants were outdoors for only one day “to harden” (2/16/16). Perhaps premature, I planted the four little pots in the large planter. Later–as they mature–I’ll “thin” because, currently, too many seedlings.

Old Farmer’s Almanac instructions were partially ignored. 😦

“Ginger has been proven to be effective in killing ovarian and prostate cancer cells – further research could lead to more effective treatments that do not harm healthy cells in the human body, unlike chemotherapy and radiation treatments….

“Aside from ginger’s potential use in fighting cancer, the root has many other properties that make it one of Nature’s most powerful remedies.

Boost your health with ginger tea

“One of the best ways to reap the health-promoting properties of ginger is by drinking ginger tea. My own remedy for numerous common ailments is to simply chop up some fresh ginger into small chunks and then boil it in water for about 15–20 minutes. I like the taste without adding any sweetener, but some may find it a bit overpowering. In my experience, ginger tea is one of the best methods for fighting the onset of a cold, treating indigestion and strengthening my own immune system.”

I’m intrigued; I want to grow ginger. ~~ **NOT** in my Garden Tower but somehow, somewhere, in my yard.

Postscript, Friday, April 1, 2016 (no joke): For the first time, I prepared ginger tea from scratch. Wow, it is much stronger than store-bought tea bags!! It will take some “getting used to”!! (Casual Approach Rejected Entirely, “nothing ventured, nothing gained.”)
